I dream of a super connected home.
Now, I tried to write to people in Google about the thing that I wanted to share, but on their stupid, there isn;t a place where we can share with them an bloody ideas. I am a man of ideas; and I think from that perspective. Anyways, Google guys are busy bad-mouthing about RR Donnelly, who gave away their earnings before these guys had a chance to polish it up.. hehe.. :P Sorry, i am chartered accountant and earning etc., business angles might pop up somewhere or the other. Anyways, Google is not the topic of discussion.
Well, I frankly, I like GOOGLE.. I love Google, I adore the company and i like how they have transformed the net, mobile everything. I like Apple as well, but given a choice its google google and google. So, why I am rambling about google now !!!!
Well, I want to talk about a FUTURE READY CONNECTED HOME !!!!
Now, when I say a connected home, would mean everything in the home is connected to a nice Operating System. Say that Operating System is Android by Google or anyone else. Lets say for now its Android.
Now, when I am saying connected would mean;
a. Cooking Gas Unit works on Operating system wherein stuff like Heating, what food is being cooked can be put out.
Infact the cooking gas unit would have a small on wall display unit wherein say recipes or status of the cooking is displayed. For example, at what temperature food is being cooked etc. Now, what is the advantage of a connected thing. Say I am watching my "CONNECTED TV" and well its on same operating systems, the television can have a unit that talks shows a mini indicator about the cooking. So, sitting on my couch I am able to monitor my food cooked and do not need to go to kitchen to say turn off the gas. As, I can do it by just clicking on the phone or on the touch the screen on the TV or take it more Hi-Tech on my own HOME OPERATING SYSTEM by voice command like SIRI !!!!
Now, similarly everything else like say Refrigerator and the Microwave are also same way connected device. In fact what I am saying here is that everything is connected right from Door, to Security Unit for the home, my wardrobe; my cooking unit, washing machine, television, mobile, computer, my car / bike, my lights at home, even my home library.
I believe such technology will drive the future. I shall spend various posts going forward talking in detail, what kind of functionality I would like to see each of the it.
You know, other crazy idea I have is no handheld phones !!! Yes, small units that sticks to the ear; and the display in say something like a contact lens; we all can wear. This contact lens shall be able to give us a continous feed of stuff as we walk down. Say like that we get display similar to Tony Stark in the Iron Man movie except for the Iron Suit. I shall dedicate a specific topic on each units functionality; power sources for something like that.
What I would like to say is that there is a case for heavy innovation in the Technology and Alternative Power; that shall drive the future.
Has anyone seen the movie PROMETHEUS; on the ship there is a unit to treat a patient which is used by the heroine Dr. Shaw to remove alien from her stomach. Imagine this tech is at hospitals and maybe afterwards in homes !!!! Imagine such degree of research in medical research put out to everyone..
My writing might seem a bit disconnected; as there is lot that I wish to write and I shall write. In fact, I shall share all my crazy ideas here. By the way, I am psyched about Google Car; yes google car is a car that runs on its own. I would be great to check its functionality etc. !!! See how the computer recognizes stuff, like road, what velocity the front car is moving, how the system recognizes indicators and does it have a road mapping stuff like Bat Mobile. I told you I am influenced by Sci-fi stuff.. :)
Coming to the heart of the topic; a connected home.. I shall keep writing about each instrument going forward and try to connect the dots as well..
